Our Story...

The Beginning

He Saw Her Paint was born in 1999, at the same time our daughter was born. At that time, we both realized so clearly we needed what the other person had for our businesses to reach their potential, Roger’s organized linear thinking and Abby’s wild artistic ideas. Although these marked differences in our basic natures cause some friction, the whole is much greater than the parts.

He Saw

Roger Brockway has degrees in both Building Construction Management and Business Administration. He has been in the construction business since 1984 and has specialized in residential carpentry as the owner of ARB Construction from 1990 to 1999. He has been involved in many different projects such as remodeling kitchens and bathrooms, installing new and recycled doors and trim, exterior restorations and custom cabinet construction and modification.

Her Paint

Abby went to art school because, while in high school, she took a painting class. Her teacher taught her how to see. Not just to focus our eyes to see like we do but to see. See color bumping up against another; shapes taking on space or space taking shape… texture… darkness…light … To move through the world and notice things with a different lens makes painting interior spaces an extension of that joy.

Neighborhood
and Environment

Our Greenwood Community

We value a light footprint. One way that we can walk lightly is to drive less.  We have oriented our business to the neighborhood we live in and the communities surrounding Greenwood. We have been able to do this by staying small. We have no plans to grow bigger. We may be little in size but big on service – are able to focus on each customer, paying careful attention to what is required and finding creative solutions to make the job a success.

We are inspired by many of the local businesses and organizations in our neighborhood who bring a social consciousness to their work. We are striving to be not just a business that earns money to live but a business that lives to fit into the local framework and contribute to this wonderful community of Greenwood and beyond.

Our Impact

The space around us in very important. We understand that your home is your refuge. We also understand in a broader sense that as you expand that concept of “home” that we are in relationship to each other, bigger than neighborhood, county, state, country. We are all citizens of the world and that we have a responsibility to care for each other and for the planet that we live on.
